Begun in 2018, the Havana Studio is an ongoing collaborative research project supported by The New School and Pratt Institute in New York, and the Ciudad Universitaria José Antonio Echeverría (CUJAE) Technical Institute in Havana, Cuba. The project aims to conduct a visual analysis of self-help constructions within the historic fabric of Centro Habana through a 1,000 building photographic survey.
As a research fellow for Friends of Havana eV I created a graphic representation language that represented and archived street views of historic facades existing in tandem with local vernacular architectural practices. I also managed and coordinated a team based in NYC and Havana (Cuba) to produce a photo-survey of historic buildings and self-help construction in Centro Habana. Compiling and organizing a database to create a GIS Map. The project was supervised by Anthony Tung and funded by grants from the Studley Fund and Friends of Havana.
